What effect will there be on means-tested benefit entitlement if a client gives money away to a relative?

Giving money to relatives is very likely to be treated as a "voluntary deprivation of resources", with the client being treated for means-testing purposes as if they still had the money that they have given away. If the client is in an AIP then what capital they acquire, and what they do with it, will not usually affect their means-tested entitlement until the end of the AIP.
